IP quality
Why we are strict about what runs through our ranges
IP reputation is the inventory. One customer sending spam through a range can poison it for everyone on that block, and a burned range cannot be fixed in code.
Per-account rate ceiling
A ceiling on request rate stops one aggressive workload making a whole node look like an attack to its upstream.
Cooldown before reissue
A released address waits before going to the next customer, so nobody inherits reputation from the previous tenant.
An abuse mailbox a person reads
Complaints reach a human the same day. An address genuinely causing harm is pulled quickly, which is what keeps the rest of the range trusted.
Billing is the record
Nodes hold a local cache so traffic keeps flowing during upgrades, but what should exist is decided by the billing database and pushed out.
Sold versus running
Because state is pushed rather than hand-managed, the gap between what we sold and what is running is a query, not an audit.
